The Process
Four clear steps. One contractor. Zero moving.
We designed this process around one promise: you should never have to leave your home.
You don't need to know if your home is a good candidate — we'll tell you. Give us your address and a brief description of what you're hoping to achieve (more bedrooms, a home office, a guest suite), and we'll give you an honest assessment right away. No sales pressure, no commitment.
This takes about 2 minutes via our chat widget or lead form.
Once we confirm your home is a candidate, we generate a photorealistic AI rendering showing your property with the new second story. This is what separates AnotherStory from traditional contractors — you see the result before you commit to anything. You can share it with your family, refinish your mortgage, or just marvel at what's possible.
This typically takes 24–48 hours after we confirm your address is eligible.
When you're ready to move forward, our team takes over all the heavy lifting with the city. Architecture, structural engineering, city permits, HOA reviews where applicable — we manage everything. You don't file a single form. Gary Lantrip is your single point of contact throughout.
This phase typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on your city's permit queue.
This is the part that makes AnotherStory different. Your old roof stays in place until the new second floor is weather-tight. That means no rain inside, no temp living arrangements, no hotel stays. Your family lives in the house throughout. When the new floor is ready, the old roof comes off and the new story gets finished. Most projects complete in 4–6 months total.
Gary conducts a final walkthrough with you before the project closes.
Traditional contractors remove the old roof first. That leaves you exposed to weather, noise, and chaos for weeks. We build the new floor first — weather-tight — then remove the old roof. Your home stays intact.
Gary Lantrip is your single point of contact from first conversation to final walkthrough. No juggling multiple subcontractors. No finger-pointing when something goes wrong. One person accountable for everything.
Before you commit a dollar, you'll see a photorealistic rendering of your home with the new second story. This isn't a sketch or a floor plan — it's a realistic image of your actual home. No surprises at the end.
Architecture, engineering, city permits, inspections — it's all included in the project scope. We handle it. You don't call the city. You don't manage a contractor. You just live in your home and wait for the final walkthrough.
Share your address and we'll tell you whether your home is a candidate — at no cost, no commitment.
Tell us about your home and Gary will reach out with a custom second-story rendering.
